Maston C. Courtney’s practice includes most areas of oil, gas, and mineral law, including transactional matters, administrative law, and litigation. He is board certified in oil, gas, and mineral law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Courtney attended the University of Texas at Austin, receiving a B.B.A. in 1952 and an LL.B. in 1954. He is a former Assistant Attorney General of Texas.

Mr. Courtney is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Texas, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a former president of the Amarillo Area Bar Association; a sustaining Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation; former vice-chairman of the Bar Admissions Committee, 13th District, State Bar of Texas; former chairman, Nominating Committee, Texas Bar Foundation, 13th District; and a former member of the Oil, Gas and Mineral Law Council of the State Bar of Texas. He has authored numerous legal papers relating to oil, gas, and mineral law, including course material for the Petroleum Land Title Institute, University of Oklahoma College of Continuing Education, where he was an annual participant for many years.
